How to use this patio calculator
Estimating your patio cost is simple. Patios are often irregular shapes, so if yours isn't a perfect rectangle, estimate the longest and widest points, or break it into two rectangles and add the area together.
- Measure the length of your patio area.
- Measure the width.
- Notice the depth is set lower than a driveway — 15mm or 16mm is perfect for foot traffic.
- Check the estimated price range.
Patio specific cost factors
While the materials are the same, patios have different considerations than driveways when it comes to pricing.
- Access: Rear garden access is often trickier than a front driveway. If we have to bring a digger and materials through the house or down a very narrow side alley, labour costs increase.
- Levels and Steps: Patios often feature steps leading to lawns or back doors. Constructing and edging resin steps takes careful, time-consuming trowel work.
- Manhole covers: Rear gardens often have recessed drain covers. We replace these with specialized inset covers so the resin flows seamlessly across them, which is a small additional cost.
