Drainage Options & Soakaways
While resin bound surfacing is permeable, it is often laid over an impermeable base (like an existing tarmac driveway). If the water drains through the resin but hits solid tarmac, it will run down the slope of the base.
Managing Run-off
If your existing driveway slopes toward your house or the public highway, we must capture that water to remain compliant with building regulations.
Aco Channel Drains
We install linear channel drains (often called Aco drains) at the lowest point of the slope. These discrete metal or plastic grates catch the water before it can pool against your masonry or run into the street.
Soakaways
The channel drains must empty somewhere. We usually pipe them into a soakaway — a large crate buried in a lawn or flowerbed, surrounded by shingle. The water enters the crate and slowly soaks away into the earth, perfectly mimicking natural drainage.
