Best Time of Year to Install

Resin bound surfacing is sensitive to weather conditions during the installation process, but can be installed year-round if managed correctly.

Moisture is the Enemy

The single most important factor is moisture. The base must be bone dry before the resin is laid. If moisture touches uncured polyurethane resin, it reacts, causing a cloudy foam to form within the surface (known as "blooming"). We will never lay resin if rain is forecast.

Temperature Limits

Resin cures via a chemical reaction that generates heat. If it is too hot (above 25°C), the resin cures too quickly, making it difficult to trowel smooth. If it is too cold (below 5°C), the curing process stops. In winter, we add catalysts to the mix to speed up the cure time in low temperatures.

Spring and autumn provide the most reliable conditions, but we successfully install hundreds of driveways throughout summer and winter by adjusting our mix and timing.
