Laying Resin Over Concrete

Concrete is an excellent, solid base for resin bound surfacing, provided a few critical steps are followed.

Managing Expansion Joints

Concrete expands and contracts with temperature changes, which is why large concrete drives have expansion joints cut into them. If we trowel resin directly over these joints, the movement of the concrete will snap the resin above it.

We solve this by carrying the expansion joints through the resin surface using specialized metal beading, ensuring the surface can flex safely.

Priming is Crucial

Concrete must be heavily primed with a specific polymer primer before resin is laid to ensure a strong chemical bond. Without primer, the resin will delaminate from the concrete.
