Resin Driveways Surrey

Sub-Base Preparation

The sub-base is the most important part of any driveway. It provides the structural strength to hold the weight of vehicles without sinking.

MOT Type 1 and Type 3

After excavating to the correct depth, we lay a geotextile weed membrane. We then install 150mm of crushed stone — usually MOT Type 1, or MOT Type 3 if the driveway needs to be fully SUDS compliant (Type 3 has fewer "fines" or dust, allowing water to drain through it faster).

Compaction

The stone is heavily compacted in layers using a vibrating roller or heavy plate compactor until it is completely solid.

The Binder Course

Over the stone, we lay an open-graded (porous) tarmac binder course. This provides the smooth, flat surface required to trowel the resin onto, while maintaining permeability.
