Resin Driveways Surrey

Oil Stains and Spills

Accidents happen. If a vehicle leaks oil or a tradesperson spills paint on your driveway, here is how to handle it.

Oil Leaks

Because the stone aggregate is completely coated in polyurethane resin, the oil cannot penetrate and stain the stone itself. The oil sits on top of the resin coating.

Wipe up the excess oil immediately with a dry cloth or paper towel. Then, wash the area with warm water and a strong household detergent (like Fairy Liquid). Scrub with a stiff brush and rinse clean. The oil should wash away completely.

Tyre Marks

Heavy, stationary steering (turning the wheel while the car is not moving) can occasionally leave black rubber marks on lighter resin colours. These can usually be removed with a light pressure wash and a stiff brush.

What NOT to use

Never use strong solvents, white spirit, or harsh industrial chemicals to clean a resin driveway. These chemicals can break down the polyurethane binder, causing the stones to come loose.
