Resin vs Block Paving
Block paving is the traditional choice, but resin bound surfacing is rapidly overtaking it as the premium driveway option in Surrey. Here is the direct comparison.
Maintenance and Weeds
Block Paving: Requires constant maintenance. Weeds grow through the sand-filled joints, moss grows in the shadows, and ants dig out the sand. You must pressure wash and re-sand every few years.
Resin Bound: Completely seamless. No joints means no weeds. An occasional sweep is all the maintenance required.
Permeability and Planning
Block Paving: Standard block paving is non-porous. You must apply for planning permission unless you install separate drainage or use expensive permeable blocks (which look identical but have wider joints that attract even more weeds).
Resin Bound: Fully SUDS compliant. Water drains right through the surface. No planning permission required.
